Habit and I actually find sending one email that goes to all our members easier.

Remember you can do this via Email, so when I'm logged in it's easier. I'm sure I'm not alone. I wonder if the new forum can do this? Might be useful for announcements?

Well I thought the whole idea was to close down jiglu and migrate to the new forum?

It’s precisely the same amount of effort for you to post this on the forum as it is on jiglu.

Oooo just down the road from me regretfully my 02 is back to bare bones now.

If this jiglu emails every one at once can the new forum do email broadcasting which basically same thing so you do not need to log on to the forum then search to get the news?

Hi CJ,

No, as far as I know there’s not a facility for you to be emailed about every post that’s made on the new forum, but if you took a look at how much traffic is over there now you wouldn’t want it to!

The best way to get a quick over view of new posts is clicking on the ‘active posts’ page. Here’s a link, which I have book marked as my main entry to the forum:

http://www.bmw02.byethost4.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics

You can also choose to have every thread you post on, or click and subscribe to, send you an email notification when the thread has been updated/added to. I asked Tom if this could be set to ‘on’ as a default, but not sure if this was possible. If you’re not getting these emails make sure you’re logged on and click on

Users control panel

Then click on the Board Preferences tab

And finally select Edit posting defaults

You then have the option to select Notify me upon replies by default:

Hope this helps.

Most people who looked at Jiglu had the email turned off. I can't blame them. Most posts were banter between the dozen or so of us who left it on. The fact I've had hardly any emails via jiglu in the last week proves it's obsolesence, it's already a dead forum.

thanks for the handy tip, i ment some places have a specific broadcast email function (i think different forums call it different names) but generally an admin type authority can write 1 email and its automatically sent to all regisitered users which could be handy for sharing important news and updates.

There might be CJ – although a monthly meet in North London doesn’t really warrant contacting everyone in the UK!

First 3 mails need to be approved to stop spammers then you good to go. Comment on something or post pics of your car then all is good

Most people who looked at Jiglu had the email turned off. I can't blame them. Most posts were banter between the dozen or so of us who left it on. The fact I've had hardly any emails via jiglu in the last week proves it's obsolesence, it's already a dead forum.

Hi CJ,
No, as far as I know there’s not a facility for you to be emailed ab
out
every post that’s made on the new forum, but if you took a look at h
ow
much traffic is over there now you wouldn’t want it to!
The best way to get a quick over view of new posts is clicking on the
‘active posts’ page. Here’s a link, which I have book marked as
my main
entry to the forum:
http://www.bmw02.byethost4.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics
You can also choose to have every thread you post on, or click and
subscribe to, send you an email notification when the thread has been
updated/added to. I asked Tom if this could be set to ‘on’ as a
default,
but not sure if this was possible. If you’re not getting these emai
ls
make sure you’re logged on and click on
Users control panel
Then click on the Board Preferences tab
And finally select Edit posting defaults
You then have the option to select Notify me upon replies by default:
Hope this helps.
